ROALD DAHL
Roald Dahl is of Norwegian origin. He was born in Wales into 1916. Avid of adventures, he leaves for Africa at the age eighteen years and works in an oil company, before becoming fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He escapes from little from death, its apparatus being crushed on the ground! Following this accident, Roald Dahl starts to write... but it is only in 1960, after having published during fifteen years of the books for adults, that Roald Dahl begins in the literature for youth with James and large fishing, soon followed with a success always growing, of Charlie and the Chocolate factory, then of a series of best-sellers among which The Good Large Giant, Charlie and the large elevator of glass, Mathilda... In the only United Kingdom, more than eleven million its works for youth were sold between 1980 and 1990.
Roald Dahl, this giant who sometimes shocked the adults, but understood the children and liked them, died on November 23, 1990, at the sixty fourteen years age.
